Navy removes support to CAD's in Ucayali

In 1998, the Peruvian Navy withdrew its support to the Self-Defense Committees (CAD's) in Ucayali, as they became directly dependent on the Prefecture. This change marked the end of the logistical and technical support that the Navy had provided to the CAD's since their formation in the 1990s.

In 1998, the Peruvian Navy withdrew support from the Self-Defense Committees (CAD's) in the Ucayali region. This decision was due to the fact that the CAD's became directly dependent on the Prefecture, thus changing the command and supervision structure of these organizations. The CAD's had been formed and supported by the Navy since the early 1990s as part of the counter-subversive strategy in the area. The withdrawal of the Navy's support marked the end of a stage in which these armed forces had provided logistical and technical advice and armament to the self-defense committees.
