DINCOTE captured in Trujillo 14 members of the Northern Regional Committee of the PCP-SL, including its leader Juana Pérez 'La Gringa' and other important leaders. This operation represented a decisive blow against the Shining Path structure in the northern region of Peru.
On June 5, 1995, the DINCOTE captured 14 members of the Northern Regional Committee of the PCP-SL in Trujillo, in a decisive blow against the Shining Path structure in the region. Among those captured were Juana Perez, known as 'La Gringa', 28 years old, leader of the Regional Command, who had directed the assassination of police commander Jose Figueroa Cacho in April of that year. Also arrested were Cleofé Tineo Berna (Jaén Base representative), Julio César Moreno Cruz (Otuzco representative), Pedro Ganoza Acevedo and Fluvencio Carrasco Pechaco (Chiclayo delegates), José Farfán Silva and Manuel Antonio Flores Corde (Piura Military Command), Remigio Sánchez Valdez (Amazonas representative), Gregorio Lavado Valverde ('Richard') and Wilfredo Campo Quispe (responsible for economy). This capture was the result of police intelligence work and information provided by repentants, constituting one of the most important blows against the Shining Path leadership in the north of the country.
