Attack on Counter-Subversive Base in La Florida

MRTA attack to the counter-subversive base of La Florida in Oxapampa that left 4 military dead (1 lieutenant and 3 soldiers) and 7 soldiers wounded. The attack occurred in the context of the counter-subversive offensive in the central jungle.

On March 16, 1995, subversive forces of the MRTA attacked the Counter-subversive Base of La Florida, located in the district of Villa Rica, province of Oxapampa. The attack resulted in the death of 4 military personnel, including 1 lieutenant and 3 soldiers, in addition to leaving 7 soldiers wounded. This attack took place in the context of the military presence on the left bank of the Perene River, where the Army had installed counter-subversive bases since 1993 to combat MRTA detachments. The La Florida base was one of several military installations established in the Oxapampa and Chanchamayo area to contain subversive operations in the region.
