Confrontation in Boca Tigre

Clash between the Peruvian Army and the MRTA in Boca Tigre, sector between Satipo and Pichanaki, which resulted in the death of two alleged MRTA subversives on January 17, 1995.

On January 17, 1995, an armed confrontation took place between members of the Peruvian Army and presumed MRTA subversives in the Boca Tigre sector, located between Satipo and Pichanaki in the department of Junín, killing two presumed MRTA subversives. This confrontation took place in the context of the military offensive against MRTA in the central jungle, which had intensified its operations in the area since the early 1990s. By 1995, the MRTA maintained a presence on both banks of the Perene River, although its operational capacity was being progressively reduced by military pressure.
