Most displaced families begin to return to their homes

In 1995, the majority of displaced families from the central jungle began to return to their original communities, after the return process was officially initiated in September 1994. This return made it possible to regularize the land and river traffic that had been interrupted for years.

Beginning in 1995, the majority of displaced families began to return to the sites of their original communities in the central jungle. The return process had officially begun on September 17, 1994, as part of a campaign promoted by the government and the Armed Forces. However, many of those who had fled found that many had died, others had preferred to flee to the bush or to other more distant communities. In 1995, land and river transit, which had been interrupted for several years, began to be regularized.
