PCP-SL militants apply for Repentance Law in Cuzco

In August 1994, militants of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso in Cuzco began to take advantage of the Law of Repentance, a process that also occurred in Apurímac between December 1993 and July 1994, marking the dismantling of the subversive forces after the capture of Abimael Guzmán.

In August 1994, militants of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso began to take advantage of the Law of Repentance in the department of Cuzco. This process occurred after the capture of Abimael Guzmán and the internal division of the PCP-SL between the followers of the so-called 'Peace Accord' of December 1993 and the members of Sendero Rojo. In Apurimac, between December 1993 and July 1994, several Shining Path leaders were captured, while members of the PCP-SL support committees also took advantage of this law. This process marked the beginning of a significant dismantling of the subversive forces in the southern Andean region.
