End of CCD Commission's investigation on Operation Aries

The Human Rights Commission of the CCD concluded its three-day investigation of Operation Aries in Tingo Maria, Aucayacu and Anda, verifying the existence of deaths but minimizing the allegations of massive human rights violations presented by the CNDDHH.

The Human Rights Commission of the Democratic Constituent Congress (CCD) concluded its investigation into allegations of human rights violations during Operation Aries. The delegation traveled to Tingo Maria on April 23 and for three days (April 23, 24 and 25) received testimonies from affected people in Tingo Maria, Aucayacu and Anda. The commission visited the villages of Moyuna and Moena, where it verified the existence of dead people, and two corpses were transferred to Tingo Maria by order of the Provincial Prosecutor. The pro-government congressmen, led by Carlos Blanco Oropeza, concluded that the 100 reported corpses and massive bombings were not verified, minimizing the CNDDHH's denunciations.
