CCD Human Rights Commission trip to Tingo María

The CCD Human Rights Commission visited Tingo Maria from April 23 to 25, 1994 to investigate allegations of human rights violations during Operation Aries. The commission collected testimonies and visited villages where the existence of dead people was verified.

The delegation of the Human Rights Commission of the Democratic Constituent Congress (CCD) traveled to Tingo Maria on April 23, 1994 to investigate allegations of human rights violations during Operation Aries. For three days (April 23, 24 and 25) the Commission received testimonies from affected people in Tingo Maria, Aucayacu and Anda. Despite some difficulties, it managed to visit the villages of Moyuna and Moena, where it verified the existence of dead people. The two corpses were taken to Tingo Maria by order of the Provincial Prosecutor. The commission was divided in its conclusions, with the official congressmen denying the allegations of massive massacres.
