First CNDDHH statement on Operation Aries
The CNDDHH issued its first public communiqué on April 19, 1994 entitled 'Que no vuelva el horror' (Let the horror not return), denouncing human rights violations during Operation Aries and demanding the cessation of practices that reinstated the dirty war.
On April 19, 1994, the National Human Rights Coordinating Committee (CNDDHH) issued its first public communiqué entitled 'Que no vuelva el horror' (Let the horror not return) on Operation Aries. In this communiqué, the CNDDHH expressed its concern that the military operation continued without taking into account the reports of civilian deaths. The organization called on the relevant authorities and the Attorney General to put an immediate end to these practices, arguing that it reinstated the dirty war that the country had suffered since 1980. The communiqué demanded guarantees so that the families of the victims could give their version of the facts and that representatives of the International Red Cross be allowed to enter the conflict zone.
