CNDDDHH delegation travels to Alto Huallaga

On April 16, 1994, a CNDDHH delegation traveled to Alto Huallaga to investigate allegations of human rights violations during Operation Aries. The delegation collected testimonies from survivors and documented cases of bombings, rapes and murders of civilians.

On April 16, 1994, a delegation from the National Human Rights Coordinating Committee (CNDDHH) traveled to Alto Huallaga to investigate allegations of human rights violations during Operation Aries. The delegation was made up of Pablo Rojas, Roger Niego, Ivonne Montoya, José Nalvarte and Ernesto de la Jara, as well as congressman Roger Cáceres Velásquez and priest Daniel Le Blanc, head of the Justice and Peace Service for Latin America of the Order of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. The delegation gathered numerous testimonies of people who managed to escape the military operations, documenting cases of bombings, rapes, murders and other human rights violations. The first information the CNDDHH received about these violations came from people who managed to escape the initial bombings and actions of Operation Aries.
