Operation Aries resulted in executions of peasants in Huallaga valley
Between April and May 1994, the Armed Forces carried out Operation Aries with the objective of eliminating the presence of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso in the area. The operation involved intense military patrol activity and even aerial bombardment of villages and homes with rocket grenades from helicopters. The areas of greatest intensity were Moruna, Moena, Salvador, Bijao and Blanquillo. The TRC received testimonies of at least 14 identified persons and a significant number of unidentified persons executed by members of the Armed Forces.
