Cayumba Massacre

Massacre perpetrated by the Peruvian Army in Cayumba Chico where several members of a family were arbitrarily executed, including a six-year-old girl, with prior sexual violence against women.

On March 29, 1994 in Cayumba Chico, army troops arbitrarily executed the father, mother and six-year-old sister of a female witness. The massacre included sexual violence against the women prior to the executions. According to the documented pattern, the military raped the women prior to executing them. This event is part of a series of massacres in Huanuco during 1994 where systematic sexual violence was recorded.
