Criminal Chamber does not resolve jurisdiction dispute in La Cantuta case

The Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court, made up of five justices, did not reach the four votes required by its Organic Law to resolve a jurisdictional dispute over the La Cantuta case. The vote was three to two in favor of the military jurisdiction. A second vote was then called.
