Kidnapping of businessman Raul Hiraoka Torres by MRTA
MRTA kidnaps Raul Hiraoka for four months until his rescue by the police in San Borja
Raúl Hiraoka Torres, son of the owner of the Hiraoka chain of stores, was kidnapped around 8:30 p.m. when he was driving a pickup truck in the Córpac neighborhood, San Isidro. His vehicle was hit by a pickup truck, and people got out and shot him with short-range weapons. The businessman and Miguel Sandoval Cajusol, a security guard, were wounded and died. During the trip, the kidnappers were intercepted by police officers, and the sub-officer Walter Estrada was killed. He was kept in a town jail in San Borja, tied to a chair with handcuffs on his wrists and ankles. After almost four months, the police located the residence and after eight hours of negotiations he was rescued. An arsenal of weapons was seized and several town jails were found.
