In July 1993, four graves were found in Cieneguilla with the remains of nine students and a professor from La Cantuta University who disappeared in July 1992, following a report to the weekly SI.
In July 1993, 4 graves with human remains were found in Cieneguilla, thanks to a report made to the weekly SI. The remains belonged to nine students and a professor of La Cantuta University who had disappeared in July of the previous year (1992). This discovery confirmed the massacre perpetrated against members of the university community of La Cantuta. The discovery of the graves was the result of a journalistic denunciation that allowed locating the bodies of the disappeared victims.
