Presentation of captured PCP-SL and MRTA militants in Puno
On April 28, 1993, 17 captured militants of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso and 2 of the MRTA were publicly presented in Puno. This was the first of a series of presentations of captured militants that continued in May and June 1993.
On April 28, 1993, the counter-subversive forces presented to the press a group of captured militants of subversive organizations in the department of Puno. Seventeen PCP-Sendero Luminoso militants and two MRTA militants who had been captured in operations carried out in the area were presented. This presentation was part of a series of captures that continued in the following months, with 9 PCP-SL and 7 MRTA militants presented on May 12, and 8 PCP-SL and 4 MRTA militants on June 2 of the same year. These captures took place in the context of the intensification of the counter-subversive strategy after the self-coup of April 1992 and the capture of Abimael Guzmán in September of that year.
