MRTA kills businessman David Ballón Vera after kidnapping
Members of the MRTA assassinated mining businessman David Ballón Vera. Ballón Vera had been kidnapped in the middle of the street in the district of San Miguel, Lima, on September 11, 1992. When they did not reach an agreement on the amount to be paid for the ransom, they murdered him. He was the first MRTA hostage who was later murdered.
