Rape of Maria de la Cruz Pari in Playa La Chira
María de la Cruz Pari was raped by DINCOTE agents during her interrogation. Between January 7 and 10, 1993, she was taken to a beach near Lima, possibly La Chira, where she was raped.
Maria de la Cruz Pari, 20 years old, was detained by the PIP along with twelve people accused of belonging to the special detachment of the People's Guerrilla Army of People's Relief of the Shining Path in February 1993. A report from the Congress of the Republic specified that Maria de la Cruz Pari was raped by DINCOTE agents who interrogated her between January 6 and 26 in the cells of the aforementioned division. Mrs. Pari said that between January 7 and 10 she was taken to a beach near Lima, perhaps La Chira, where she was raped. After the rape, she lost consciousness and woke up when she was in the van on her way back.
