Murder of Rosa del Aguila Garcia
Murder of Rosa del Aguila García, president of the Mothers' Committee, causing deactivation of organizations.
In 1993, Rosa del Aguila García, president of the Central Mothers' Committee of the Amarilis district in Tingo María, was assassinated, presumably by Shining Path members, according to her son José Soto del Aguila. Her death led to the deactivation of the Central Mothers' Club, as well as other organizations in Huanuco. This murder demonstrates the destructive impact that Shining Path violence had on women's social organizations.
