Detention and sexual violence in Comas

During 1993, in the district of Comas, Lima, there were multiple cases of arbitrary detention accompanied by sexual violence and torture by police officers. One witness reported that during her interrogation at the Comas police station in 1992, she was subjected to groping, attempted rape and forced nudity. Another witness was detained in August 1993 in Comas and taken to DINCOTE where she suffered sexual violence. The testimonies describe a systematic pattern of sexual abuse during detentions and interrogations, where women detainees were threatened, groped and raped by law enforcement officers.
