During 1993 in the district of El Agustino there were cases of sexual violence against women detained by police officers. One witness was detained on November 11, 1991 in El Agustino and later transferred to the DINCOTE where she was groped and mistreated. Another witness was detained in El Agustino in 1993 and reports that police officers asked her to kiss another detainee and to adopt humiliating positions. The abuses were part of a systematic pattern of sexual violence during detentions in the context of the internal armed conflict.
