Sexual violations at the Las Palmas Military Base
Two female detainees were sexually assaulted at the Las Palmas Military Base in Surco, Lima, during 1993, according to testimony gathered by the CVR.
In 1993, in the Las Palmas Military Base located in the district of Surco, Lima, there were cases of rape against women detainees. A declarant testified before the CVR about the case of two women who were detained together with her and who were raped by military personnel in that base. These events were part of the systematic pattern of sexual violence exercised by State agents against women detainees during the internal armed conflict. The mistreatment and sexual violence began from the moment of detention and continued during the period of confinement in the military facilities.
