Consolidation of the defeat of the PCP-SL in central region

Between 1993 and 1995, the defeat and disarticulation of the PCP-SL was consolidated in the central region, reducing its presence to isolated rural areas such as the left bank of the Ene River in Satipo. The peasant patrols dislodged the PCP-SL from places such as Alto and Bajo Tulumayo, Cunas and Alto Canipaco.

Between 1993 and 1995, the defeat and disarticulation of the PCP-SL was consolidated in the central region. Its presence was reduced to some rural areas, such as the left bank of the Ene River basin in Satipo, from where it sporadically made incursions into communities in the districts of Pangoa and Río Tambo, moving into the highlands through Andamarca and Santo Domingo de Acobamba and into the jungle of Ayacucho. This operational capacity is finally lost after the capture of Oscar Ramirez Duran, 'Feliciano', in July 1999. The PCP-SL is dislodged from places such as Alto and Bajo Tulumayo, Cunas and Alto Canipaco thanks to the action of the peasant patrols, leading to confrontations where the Shining Path army fighters bear the brunt.
