UN Declaration on Enforced Disappearances
UN adopts Declaration on Enforced Disappearances reinforcing its character as an international crime
On December 18, 1992, the United Nations General Assembly adopted by resolution 47/133 the Declaration on the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance. This Declaration reinforced the character of enforced disappearance as an international crime, establishing that it constitutes a violation of the norms of international law guaranteeing fundamental rights and that it violates or seriously endangers the right to life.
