Pedro Huilca was assassinated in December 1992, probably by members of the paramilitary group Colina. The assassination occurred in a context of intensifying violence in Lima, particularly in the popular cones, where the transfer of the "dirty war" from the countryside to the city was being denounced. This crime took place at a time when violence seemed to be declining in number of attacks, but the number of victims was intensifying, with a growing militarization of the conflict.
