PCP-SL assassinates Colonel Manuel Ortega Tumba, head of DINCOTE, in Surquillo
Members of the PCP-SL assassinated Colonel Manuel Ortega Tumba, head of the Administrative Department of the DINCOTE, in Surquillo, Lima, shooting him in the back. This assassination represents a reprisal by the Shining Path against the police after the capture of Abimael Guzmán.
