Arrest and torture with gunshots to force self-incrimination for terrorism
On November 5, 1992, Juan Maya Montoya was arrested in the district of Chalhuanca, province of Aimaraes, department of Apurimac, when he went to receive his salary. A combination of the army and the police took him to DINCOTE where he was disappeared without giving any reason to his family. One day at dawn, the police took him out of the office and took him to the river bank, where an army captain shot him three times with a rifle to force him to sign a document admitting to being a terrorist. While blindfolded, he signed a couple of blank sheets of bond paper.
