Bomb at soup kitchen collection center in Villa El Salvador
A Shining Path PCP bomb destroyed a food collection center of the FEPOMUVES soup kitchens in Villa El Salvador in September 1992. The attack was part of the Shining Path's strategy of attacking popular organizations opposed to their presence in the district.
In September 1992, the Shining Path PCP detonated a bomb that destroyed one of the food collection centers of the soup kitchens of FEPOMUVES (Popular Federation of Women of Villa El Salvador), presided over by María Elena Moyano. This attack was part of an escalation of violence by the PCP-SL in Villa El Salvador, which included acts of sabotage, propaganda, burning of buses and attacks against infrastructure. The attack against the collection center represented a direct blow against the popular women's organizations that opposed the Shining Path presence in the district. This event occurred in the context of the PCP-SL's attempts to take over the neighborhood organizations of Villa El Salvador, combining preaching with violent actions and assassinations of leaders opposed to their line.
