Murder of Juan Andahua Vergara

Juan Andahua Vergara, a prominent union leader of the CGTP and the National Federation of Workers of Beverages and Soft Drinks, was assassinated on August 3, 1992 in Lima, presumably by irregular groups.

Juan Andahua Vergara was Secretary of Organization of the CGTP, Secretary General of the National Federation of Workers of Beverages and Soft Drinks and Secretary of Organization of the Coca Cola Workers Union. He was assassinated on August 3, 1992 in Lima. According to the report, he was allegedly murdered by irregular groups. His death occurred in a context of systematic violence against union and social leaders during the internal armed conflict in Peru.
