On July 18, 1992, a military raid on the student residence of the Enrique Guzmán y Valle University (La Cantuta) ended with the kidnapping and disappearance of nine students and a professor of the university. This event occurred in the context of the state of emergency and the intensification of the counter-subversive struggle after the self-coup of April 5, 1992. In July 1993, thanks to a report made to the weekly SI, four graves were found in Cieneguilla with human remains belonging to the nine students and one professor of La Cantuta University who had disappeared the previous year. The case is part of the actions of the Colina Group, which carried out selective assassinations as part of the counter-subversive strategy.
