Businessman Raúl Hiraoka Torres kidnapped by MRTA for more than a year, rescued by DINCOTE in October 1993
Businessman Raul Hiraoka Torres was kidnapped by members of the MRTA on July 9, 1992 as he was leaving his home in San Isidro. He was held captive in three different properties in Lima (Santa Anita, Urbanización Aurora in Surquillo, and Calle Vesalio in San Borja) for more than a year. During his kidnapping he was subjected to psychological torture and the subversives demanded a 'war quota' from his family. He was rescued alive on October 14, 1993 by DINCOTE personnel in an operation called 'Alacrán 1'.
