Beginning of the national dialogue convened by the government
Government initiates national dialogue rejected by opposition
As part of the Bahamas agreements, the government officially summoned all political parties to participate in a "national dialogue" which began on June 30. The opposition refused to participate, considering it a "farce to deceive the people". Insisting on the unconstitutionality of the government but with no real capacity to negotiate with it, the opposition left the political scene.
