Police intervention in Canto Grande leaves 40 dead, 39 PCP-SL and one policeman
The police intervention called "Mudanza Uno" is carried out in the Canto Grande prison wards where prisoners of the PCP-SL are imprisoned. The reason was to transfer more than 100 women to the Chorrillos prison. On May 12, an official communiqué from the Ministry of the Interior reported that 35 prisoners accused of terrorism were killed. In the following days, no qualified observers or family members were allowed to enter. In total, forty were killed: 39 PCP-SL members and one policeman.
