Attack on police post in Angasmarca

The PCP-SL attacked the police post of Angasmarca in Santiago de Chuco, causing the death of five policemen. This attack was part of the Shining Path offensive against police installations in rural areas.

On March 8, 1992, the PCP-SL attacked the police post of Angasmarca in the province of Santiago de Chuco. The attack resulted in the death of five policemen. This event was part of the Shining Path's strategy of attacking rural police posts with few personnel and limited weapons. Angasmarca had previously been the scene of PCP-SL actions, including the destruction of the SAIS in 1981 and the withdrawal of police officers in 1988.
