Mobilization against Mayor Johny Rodriguez
Mobilization organized by CUAVES and groups linked to the PCP-SL in March 1992 to demand the dismissal of Mayor Johny Rodríguez, accusing him of promoting the militarization of Villa El Salvador.
In March 1992, the executive committee of CUAVES and the "District Struggle Committee" - a Shining Path front group - mobilized hundreds of people to protest, demanding the dismissal of Mayor Johny Rodriguez "for promoting the militarization of VES". This mobilization occurred shortly after the assassination of María Elena Moyano in February 1992. The tactical alliance between radicalized sectors of CUAVES and the PCP-SL was evident in this action. Mayor Rodriguez had attempted to create a broad front against the PCP-SL at the end of 1991, promoting the formation of the Table for Peace and Development.
