Elections in the Association of Small and Micro Businessmen (APEMIVES) of Villa El Salvador, where a micro businessman was elected president with the support of the Shining Path PCP, as part of the strategy to take over neighborhood organizations.
On February 9, 1992, elections were held for APEMIVES (Association of Small and Micro Businessmen) in Villa El Salvador. In these elections, a micro-businessman was elected president with the support of the Shining Path PCP. This event took place in a context of increasing violence in the district, where the PCP-SL had increased its actions since 1989 and 1990 with acts of sabotage, propaganda, assassinations of leaders and attacks. The APEMIVES elections were part of the Shining Path's strategy to take over the district's neighborhood and social organizations.
