Detention, torture and rape at December 9th Barracks
Detention of several women in Cuartel 9 de Diciembre in 1992, where they were subjected to systematic sexual violence including rape and forced sexual acts in front of military personnel. Three of the detained women were later found dead with signs of torture.
The CVR had access to the statement of a person who was detained with several women in the 9 de Diciembre Barracks in 1992, among them three women who were later found dead. Acts of sexual violence were not limited to rape but also included forcing women to have sex with each other in front of the military. One woman who was four months pregnant was forced along with another detainee to strip completely naked while the military mocked their bodies, then made them sit with their legs spread and feign masturbation by imitating pornographic magazines shown to them. The three women were later found dead with signs of torture and multiple gunshot wounds.
