Massacres, abuses and rapes by the army in Aucayacu

A witness reported to the CVR that around 1992 in the city of Aucayacu, department of Huánuco, there were massacres, abuses and rapes by the army. These events were part of the pattern of sexual violence and abuses against the civilian population that characterized the actions of the armed forces during the internal armed conflict. The testimony documents the systematic violence exercised by the military against the population in this area of Alto Huallaga. Aucayacu was one of the localities where serious human rights violations were recorded during this period.
