Visit of community member to abandoned Uchuraccay

An Uchuraccaí community member enrolled in the Self-Defense Committee of San José de Secce visited his abandoned village in 1992, finding it in total silence from a nearby hill. The community had been completely uninhabited since its abandonment in 1984.

In 1992, an Uchuraccaíño community member who was enrolled in the Self-Defense Committee of a neighboring community (San José de Secce) returned to see his hometown as part of a civil patrol. He arrived at a hill from where Uchuraccay could be seen and found the town in total silence. The community member observed that there was no movement in the town, confirming the state of total abandonment in which the community found itself. This visit occurred a year before the official return of the displaced families in October 1993.
