Assassination of Mayor Jesús Morales Bermúdez

This murder was part of a series of selective assassinations perpetrated by the PCP-SL in the coastal provinces since 1992, the year of Abimael Guzmán's capture. The Shining Path's actions concentrated on selective assassinations according to their strategies, mainly targeting political authorities and civil servants. In the same province of Huaura, Irene Gonzales Camones, General Secretary of Cambio 90 in the province, was also assassinated.
