Murder of Irene Gonzales Camones in Huaura
In 1992, PCP-SL militants assassinated Irene Gonzales Camones, Secretary General of Cambio 90 in the province of Huaura, as part of a strategy of selective assassinations against political authorities in coastal areas.
Irene Gonzales Camones, General Secretary of Cambio 90 in the province of Huaura, was assassinated by Shining Path militants in 1992. This assassination was part of a series of selective assassinations by the PCP-SL against political authorities in the coastal provinces. In the same context, the Mayor of the District of Huaura, Jesús Morales Bermúdez, and the employee Róger Huerta were also assassinated. These crimes occurred after the capture of Abimael Guzmán in 1992, when Shining Path actions concentrated on selective assassinations as a function of their strategies.
