Murder of Leonor Zamora Concha

Leonor Zamora Concha, former mayor of Huamanga and university professor of Social Service at the UNSCH, was assassinated on December 21, 1991 at the door of an educational center. Her death was part of the wave of paramilitary violence against members of the university community in Ayacucho.

Leonor Zamora Concha, former mayor of Huamanga and professor of Social Service at the San Cristobal de Huamanga National University (UNSCH), was murdered on December 21, 1991 at the door of an educational center. This crime took place in the context of a wave of violence against people linked to the University, perpetrated by paramilitary groups or law enforcement agents in civilian clothes. Zamora Concha's murder was one of the multiple crimes committed against teachers, students and university workers during 1991, a year of intense violence in Huamanga. His death was part of a systematic strategy to eliminate authorities and public figures linked to educational and political institutions in Ayacucho.
