His death occurred in the context of a wave of murders perpetrated by paramilitaries or law enforcement agents in civilian clothes against people linked to the University. This crime was part of a series of systematic attacks against members of the university community during 1991, which included teachers, students and workers. The violence against the UNSCH reached its peak between 1989 and 1991, when the university registered the highest number of victims in its three strata.
