Attack on army patrol in San Isidro
The PCP-SL attacked an army patrol convoy in the San Isidro hacienda, Melgar, resulting in the death of an officer, five soldiers, four subversives and the administrator of the San Rafael mine.
The PCP-SL attacked an army patrol traveling in convoy through the San Isidro hacienda in Melgar province. The attack resulted in the death of one officer and five Peruvian army soldiers. Four PCP-SL subversives were also killed during the confrontation. Additionally, the administrator of the San Rafael mine lost his life in this incident. This attack was part of the Shining Path offensive in the region during the most intense period of the internal armed conflict in Puno.
