Installation of military base in Raucana
Military base installed in Raucana in September 1991 to counteract the control of the Shining Path PCP, which had established there the only open Popular Committee in Lima. The base remained there until 2000.
In September 1991, a military base was installed in Raucana, a human settlement in Lima where the Shining Path PCP had established the first and only open Popular Committee in Lima. The PCP-SL had been present since the founding of the settlement in July 1990, organizing the neighborhood defense against eviction and intimidating the owners, achieving almost complete political and territorial control. The military base remained in place until 2000, putting an end to the Shining Path's open control of the area.
