Fr. Alessandro Dordi, an Italian missionary, was murdered in Santa. This murder occurred just two weeks after the murder of the two Polish Franciscans, as part of the escalation of violence by the Shining Path against foreign pastoral agents. The priest was working on pastoral projects with local communities.
