Murder of Professor Iván Pérez

The PCP-Sendero Luminoso assassinated Professor Iván Pérez, professor at the Faculty of Economics of the UNSAAC, a militant of the PCP Unidad and advisor to the provincial mayor of Cuzco. This selective crime was part of the Shining Path's fight for control of the university and against political representatives in the city.

The PCP-Sendero Luminoso assassinated Professor Iván Pérez, professor at the Faculty of Economics of the San Antonio Abad National University of Cuzco. Perez was a militant of the Peruvian Communist Party (PCP Unidad) and was an advisor to the provincial mayor of Cuzco, Daniel Estrada. This assassination took place in the context of the PCP-SL's struggle for control of the San Antonio Abad University and its unions, as well as attacks against representatives of the regional government. The crime was part of the strategy of selective assassinations that the Shining Path executed in urban areas against political leaders, authorities and social leaders they considered enemies of their revolutionary project.
