Santa Barbara massacre in Huancavelica

Military patrol massacred 15 people of Hilario family in Mysteriosa mine

In the early morning of July 4, 1991, a military patrol arrived at the Rodeo Pampa annex and entered the homes of the Hilario family. Francisco Hilario Torres, his wife, two daughters, daughter-in-law and five minor grandchildren were arrested, as well as neighbors Ramón Hilario Morán, his wife and two sons. The soldiers set fire to the houses and took the detainees to an abandoned mine known as Misteriosa where they were taken inside, shot and blew up the entrance with dynamite.
