Election of Chamber Presidents

Roberto Ramírez del Villar and Felipe Osterling Parodi, both from the PPC, were elected presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, respectively, in July 1991.

Roberto Ramírez del Villar and Felipe Osterling Parodi, both from the Popular Christian Party (PPC), were elected presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, respectively. This election took place in the context of political tensions between the Executive and the Congress during the government of Alberto Fujimori. Both chamber presidents would later be arrested at their homes during the self-coup of April 5, 1992.
