Alberto Fujimori hands over shotguns to ronderos
President Alberto Fujimori gave shotguns and pickup trucks to the ronderos of Chaquicocha on June 24, 1991, formalizing state support for the Self-Defense Committees fighting the PCP-SL in the Alto and Bajo Cunas area.
On June 24, 1991, in the Chaquicocha annex, President Alberto Fujimori delivered shotguns and pickup trucks to the local ronderos. This event took place in the context of the consolidation of the Self-Defense Committees in the Alto and Bajo Cunas area, which had been organized since the end of 1989 to confront the PCP-SL. The delivery of arms and vehicles represented the official support of the State to the peasant patrols fighting the subversion. This act took place months after General EP Luis Pérez Documet, head of the Political Military Command of the Mantaro Front, met with the Central Committee of the Rondas Campesinas in January 1991.
